My recommendation is forego the treaders altogether, and spend the money on the PP Clean Sweep system. Tried the large treader wheels.they do not help in tilled ground.they still plow a deep furrow, so no matter what, you still have to accurately adjust the stops in conventional till conditions. I've heard there are products out there that help expedite the rotting faster but never tried any FWIW scott We also spread chicken litter on our coc ground. Also if you can get those stalks to rotting faster it will help. As far as row cleaners Yetter makes some that float. If $ is tight, you can postpone the clean sweep for a year if you get the floating martins.īuy new. Decided on Martins c125 + clean sweep We are happy with them. I researched the options (dawn, yetter, martins ). Posted 08:16 (#4889867 - in reply to #4889693) Subject: RE: Best floating row cleaners? Conventional till i was runnin about 60 lbs of up pressure to keep them from gouging and in notilling beans into standing corn stalks i was running 60 lbs down to get it cleared away and its nice being able to adjust all of them on the fly as needed They arent cheap and adding clean sweep isnt either but after running them a year i wouldnt want to be without it. +1 on the martins they really did a great job. I like the floating martins, seem to hold up the best here in the land of rock Posted 07:01 (#4889693 - in reply to #4889678) Subject: RE: Best floating row cleaners? There is an extra wide treader that may help-but I have not tried them-don't have enough conventional ground to justify those. If you are moving back and forth from conventional to no-till you will need to lock them up if planting ground that has been tilled in the spring or they just furrow too much-even with treader wheel. Really like the shark tooth wheel as well if you are buying new-ended plugging issues. I am using Yetter Titans-some are close to 10 years old. I really like the floating row cleaner with treader wheel-they adjust themselves constantly and all my rows seem consistent. Below is a pic of 3rd or 4th year residue. Was amazed that next year though it looked like any other bean field. I did several years of no-till COC for a few years-but eventually the residue did make me go to beans. No-till COC isn't easy-you are right you do need a good row cleaner. Posted 06:54 (#4889678 - in reply to #4889574) Subject: RE: Best floating row cleaners? We had planned on trading planters b4 2016 season but just traded combines so planter will have to wait a year or two. With this year's bigger yields (more trash ) thinking we need a better system. It seems near impossible to get them adjusted so all 12 work to the proper depth. We have a Kinze 3200 planter equipped with their standard row cleaners. We are increasing our no till corn acres again next year and wondered wha the best row cleaner is for COC?
